Professor Goran Grubišić, MD, PhD

Professor Goran Grubišić, MD, PhD was born on August 5, 1944 in Split, where he graduated from Natko Nodilo Classical Gymnasium. In academic year 1963/1964 he started his studies at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, where he graduated in 1969.
He took the specialist’s exam on June 20, 1975 at Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Clinical Hospital Centre, Medical School Zagreb. His sub specialization is gynaecological oncology.
From 1975 to December 31 2009 he worked in the Sisters of Charity Clinical Hospital, where he was the head of the Department for Gynaecology and Obstetrics from June 27, 2003 to December 31.
In 1983 he finished his postgraduate studies in biomedicine at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb by obtaining the master’s degree, with the thesis entitled „Biometeorological Background of Spontaneous Abortions Occurrence“. In year 1997 he completed his doctoral thesis at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, entitled „Correlation Between Colposcopic Patterns and Histological Changes of the Uterine Cervix Infected with Human Papilloma Viruses (HPV)“

In 2007 he became full professor at the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, School of Dental Medicine, Zagreb. He was the head of the same department from academic year 2002/2003 to 2008/2009.
Professor Grubišić is the head of the first class course for postgraduate students „Place and Role of Colposcopy in Diagnostics and Treatment of Preinvasive Lesions and Lower Genital Tract“. In the period between 2001 and 2006 he gave six courses in Zagreb and one in Split and in April 2007 together with his associates he organized international colposcopy course in Cavtat and participated as invited lecturer.

Since 1990 the focus of his practical and scientific work has been the importance of colposcopy in early diagnosis and prevention of cervical neoplasia. He committed to the area upon realizing that up to 1990 colposcopy was underrepresented in diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines for premalignant lesions of the uterine cervix and lower genital tract in Croatia and also upon gaining insight into the range of international scientific and practical achievements, especially the ones presented at 7th World Congress of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy which took place on May 13-17, 1990 in Rome.

Professor Grubišić has devoted great practical and scientific efforts to restoring dignity of colposcopy as a diagnostic method. He gave seven first class training courses and organized four scientific symposia, where he participated as invited lecturer, in Croatia (Dubrovnik 2001, Split 2002, Opatija 2004 - 2009, Požega 2004, Cavtat 2007) and abroad, through activities of International College of Gynaecological Imaging (Paris1998, Paris1999, Lisbon 2000, Dublin 2002, Paris 2004, London 2005, Prague 2006, Krakow 2006), today International College of Office Gynaecology (ICOG). He also contributed to the courses in colposcopy organized by the Italian Society of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy in Caserta and in Ascoli Piceno in years 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.

He was the head of the ambulance unit for colposcopy and cervical pathology in the Sisters of Charity Clinical Hospital.

As the head of the Croatian Society for Colposcopy and Cervicovaginal Pathology, he participated in the development of colposcopic questionnaire, the project organized by the European Federation of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (EFC) and he contributed to educational materials on HPV infection and genital cancer developed by European Cervical Cancer Association (ECCA).

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our employees, their knowledge, expertise and long-term experience, the Eljuga Polyclinic successfully operates and develops for 12 years already.

In 1994, the Polyclinic was established by married partners, Ljerka and Damir Eljuga, sharing also the same career as physicians. The Polyclinic is situated in the northern part of Zagreb, at 121 Bukovačka cesta, in the vicinity of the Maksimir Park and the Zagreb University Clinical Center at Rebro.

It has been established with the aim of assembling specialist knowledge and experience with a variety of state-of-the-art techniques available in one place, and thus enabling women to get complete gynecological and breast check-up fast, without queues, in a cozy setting and surrounded by caring staff. The patients, who have entrusted us with their confidence, are the Polyclinic’s driving force for development, and listening to their needs, we have also broadened the Polyclinic’s activities.
In April 1999, we opened the Center for Breast Surgery, and in the beginning of 2002, the Center for Mammography and Stereotaxis, too, thus meeting the criteria for complete diagnostic testing and surgical treatment of breast diseases. Much attention has been paid to scientific activities and specialist training of our employees, who regularly attend specialist and scientific meetings and workshops in the country and abroad.

The Eljuga Polyclinic regularly upgrades its medical equipment and invests in new technologies as well as it extends its own premises with the aim of improving the quality of medical care and performance standards. We collaborate with numerous public healthcare centers and their healthcare providers in Zagreb to ensure high-quality care for our patients.

We also successfully collaborate with few private medical insurance companies that have entrusted us with the responsibility of helping their clients to mutual satisfaction. We are particularly aware of the fact that with the modern way of life, women have less and less time to spend on their own health care, and we are therefore always ready to organize a complete physical examination for women of all ages and tailor it to their needs.

We do exist for the sake of pursuing our simple mission of delivering the best to individual women.

Yours truly, ELJUGA Polyclinic
