Face lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure usually done to tighten and smooth out the facial skin to take on a younger and more relaxed look. Face lift can visibly reduce signs of aging that appear on the brow, around the eyes, cheeks, nose, mouth, chin and neck.
How is it performed?
At our Polyclinic we use the latest technique known as MACS-lift, which produces better results than an older technique for facial skin tightening known as SMAS face lift. The principle of the MACS-lift is that it does not only tightens the facial skin but also the muscle structure using a special procedure to produce a longer-lasting result.
Thanks to this procedure, lost facial volume caused by aging can be restored, as besides its effects on the skin’s elasticity and flexibility, age also reduces the facial tissue volume.
Another advantage of this procedure is a significant reduction in operation time, which now takes 2 hours and a half to complete, with the incision only in front of the ear and 2 cm into the hairline, unlike the older technique with the incision beginning in the hairline and extending in front of the ear, up behind the ear and back into the hairline.
At the same time, both an eyelid lift and a neck lift may be done as part of the face lift procedure.
What is the recovery time?
The recovery time depends on the extent of the procedure, but it usually takes 4-6 weeks before you can resume your normal activities.
How long will the results last?
The positive effects of a face lift can be visible for about 10 years. It, however, depends on the skin’s elasticity and other factors, too, including diet and sunlight exposure.
Are there any side effects?
The side effects of such procedure are of a transient nature. In the first few days following the procedure, swelling of the face and nausea related to anesthesia can be expected. For a couple of days, the face will feel sore and tight, but there will be no such pain that cannot be relieved by pain-relieving drugs.
