Breast reduction surgery involves the removal of fatty tissue, glandular tissue and the skin from large breasts to make them smaller and firmer. The areola can also be reduced to achieve even better cosmetic effect.
How is it performed?
Unlike an older technique leaving an ugly T-shaped scar visible on the chest, for the above procedures at our Polyclinic we use the latest technique known as the Madleine Lejour method, or the method of vertical mammoplasty.
The post-surgical scar goes around the nipple and 5 cm downward from the nipple, and is completely invisible when wearing a bra. Unlike an older technique in which the breast felt hard, this surgical technique makes it possible to achieve a natural breast shape.
How long does the procedure take?
Breast reduction surgery takes 2-3 hours under general anesthesia.
