Breast augmentation or augmentation mammoplasty is a surgical procedure to enhance the shape and size of the breasts. Some of the reasons to elect this procedure are the enhancement of the body contour of women who feel their breasts are too small, achievement of breast symmetry, breast volume correction following pregnancy or breast reconstruction following mastectomy. The best candidates for this procedure are women who are looking for improvement, not perfection in their looks. Two types of implants can be used for this procedure - a silicone implant or an implant filled with saline solution.
Breast implants have no adverse effects on fertility, pregnancy or breast-feeding, or the development of breast cancer. The procedure is performed using approved silicone implants placed either under the breast glandular tissue or the chest muscle. A silicone implant can be inserted into the breast through a small incision in the armpit, under the breast or around the areola.
Breast reduction surgery involves the removal of fatty tissue, glandular tissue and the skin from large breasts to make them smaller and firmer. The areola can also be reduced to achieve even better cosmetic effect.
How is it performed?
Unlike an older technique leaving an ugly T-shaped scar visible on the chest, for the above procedures at our Polyclinic we use the latest technique known as the Madleine Lejour method, or the method of vertical mammoplasty.
The post-surgical scar goes around the nipple and 5 cm downward from the nipple, and is completely invisible when wearing a bra. Unlike an older technique in which the breast felt hard, this surgical technique makes it possible to achieve a natural breast shape.
How long does the procedure take?
Breast reduction surgery takes 2-3 hours under general anesthesia.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and the force of gravity ultimately affect the appearance of female breasts. Due to loss of skin elasticity, the breasts lose their shape and firmness, and begin to sag. Mastopexy is a surgical procedure to give the breast a new shape, firmness and position.
How long does the procedure take?
This procedure takes 1-2 hours to complete. The patient is under general anesthesia.
Correction of inverted nipples is a minor procedure frequently performed on women with nipple inversion, especially if the inversion impedes their breast-feeding. Although it is usually done on women, this procedure can also be performed on men with the same problem.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure itself takes about a half an hour, is done under local anesthesia, and does not require an in-patient stay.
What is the recovery time?
A full recovery is achieved in about two weeks following the procedure, although the scar may remain visible for a couple of months.
How long will the results last?
The procedure ensures permanent results.
Are there any side effects?
Swelling of the nipple may occur after the procedure. Breasts may remain swollen and sore for a couple of days.
This procedure is designed to remove lumps that may develop as a body reaction to an implant. The implant-caused lumps are not dangerous, although they may sometimes cause breast disfigurement and weakening of the implant envelope that may finally result in implant rupture.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes 1 hour to complete, and is done under general anesthesia.
What is the recovery time?
Slight physical activities are allowed a day after the surgery already, while greater physical efforts are not recommended for at least 10 days. In general, a full recovery follows in 1-2 weeks.
Oversized male breasts, the so-called gynecomasty, is a condition that affects more than 40% of the male population. Male breast reduction is the most popular solution to the problem, designed to remove fat and tissue beneath the breasts using traditional methods of surgery or liposuction.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure usually takes 1-2 hours, although it greatly depends on the amount of fat to be removed.
What is the recovery time?
A recovery takes approximately two weeks.
